It’s been an incredible first few months at The Commons! Thanks to the back-breaking work of over 50 volunteers, we have successfully planted over 150 native trees. The vegetable rows are starting to take shape and will hopefully soon be bursting with rows of tomatoes, zucchini and potatoes to name just a few.  Our new composting system is ready to rumble turning garden waste into "black gold" for next season's soil. A huge thank you to everyone who has come out to dig, plant, and weed – you are the heart of this project!

How You Can Get Involved with The Commons

Want to roll up your sleeves and get involved? We host regular working bees every Saturday morning from 8 am to morning tea. No experience is necessary – just bring a hat, gloves, and a water bottle! We also have specific roles for those with regular time to contribute, such as:

  • Watering Warriors: Help with the morning irrigation shift during summer

  • Compost Captains: Manage our new composting bays.

  • Harvest Helpers: Assist with picking and preparing produce for distribution.

If you're interested, please speak to Neil at the next working bee or email: gathacg@gmail.com.
