Fading light, laughter, and the scent of hot food filled the Leongatha Community Garden recently as members gathered to celebrate a milestone: the triumphant completion of Project Sunburst - the new raised garden beds upgrade.

After months of planning and teamwork, the $40k + project (includes beds, organic materials and labour in kind) has transformed our ageing garden beds into safe, raised beds for a new era of growth.

What Project Sunburst Achieved

Thanks to tireless volunteers and grants we now boast:

●      67 upgraded raised beds - higher and easier to tend.

●      Soil revolution: over 100 cubic meters of high-quality organic compost blended into every plot.

●      Accessible pathways widened for wheelbarrows and wheelchairs.

Over 30 members toasted the achievement with canapés and refreshments:

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who teamed up every week to deliver the project.  To Open Gardens Victoria and the South Gippsland Shire Council who provided community grants of $5000 and $7,500 respectively, a huge thank you.

Thank you to every hand that dug, donated, or celebrated in the twilight!
